You Are Intrinsically Good

You are perfect, blameless, fully accepted and loved. Sure, your mind might be a little screwed up, you might have some bad habits, at times you may do things that hurt yourself and others, but your true inner self is perfect and unblemished. What the Christian church erroneously calls ‘sin’ is really just the error of humans missing the mark of understanding our true God nature. God sees us as perfect beings and this my friend is the true “gospel” or good news. Not that you are a wretched, sinful, disgusting human being that needs to do certain things (like repent and confess) to find favour with God.

If you have children do not tell them they are sinners. Tell them that their true inner self is perfect and good. Doing otherwise might very well be detrimental to their mental health and self esteem. God created us ‘good’ and didn’t renege regardless of the (quite possibly allegorical) ‘naked man and woman fruit eating snake story’. This is the message the world needs to hear.

So here is the thing: If from this day forward ALL of the children of the world were taught that us humans are all connected, all accepted by the creator that lives in each one of us, that there really is no ‘them and us’, if we were encouraged to love each-other as Jesus and other wise teachers taught, then the the world would become a much different place within a short period of time. Do you not believe this? It’s not rocket science, it’s logical, it’s basic, it’s cause and effect. The important things in life are not complicated. These are things that small children understand.

We are ALL different but we are equal and intrinsically valued. For too long religion has told us that there are the righteous and the sinners, the saved and the lost, the goodies and the baddies. This mindset is detrimental to the process of creating a better world for our children.

This is the brave new enlightened world that is coming. It may not happen in my lifetime, but it will happen.
